今日の言葉は、Tiny。
これも形容詞です。
Tiny is mostly used by women to describe something that meets these two conditions:
①cute, that makes you feel happy and warm inside ❤️☺️
②very small, like a dog or a baby. 🐶🤱
Tinyは、たいてい女の人がよく使う言葉で、下記の２つに当てはまる時に使います。
①とても可愛くて、その対象のものが自分を暖かくて幸せな気持ちにしてくれる
②とても小さいもの、例えば子犬や赤ちゃんとか
Instagramで例文で話していたのは
“Aww look at that baby. He is so cute! Look at his tiny feet!” 👶
いや～ぁ 赤ちゃんだ～ めっちゃ可愛い! この小っちゃい足～
という感じでした。
“So” + “tiny” are often used together as an exclamation.”
SoとTinyはよく一緒に使われて、その言葉を強調します。
Tiny can also be used to escape responsibility:
👦 “Hey! You ate my cookie!”
👩 “I just took a tiny bite!”
「ちょっと！僕のクッキー食べたでしょ！」
「ほんの少ぉ～しじゃん！」
と責任から逃れるために使ったりも((笑))
It can also be used to act cutesy when asking for help.
“Can I ask for a tiny favor?” 🙏
「ちょっとお願いしてもいいかな？」
と可愛らしくお願いする時にも使ったりします！

“Awesome” has many uses in American English.
Here are a few examples:
たくさん例を挙げますが形容詞ということと、
positiveな意味合いで使われているということは
共通点です！！
では紹介していきます☺
It can be used to say that you’re ”very happy”. 😀
A: How are you today?
B: Awesome, you?
How are youの返答で、とてもハッピーな場合に使ったり。
It can be used as a reaction to good news, like “nice”, “great”, or “cool!” 👍
A: I got a perfect score on my history test!
B: That’s awesome; congratulations!
いい知らせのリアクションとしての声かけでも使ったり。
It can be used to describe ”fun” events. ✨
A: How was your trip to Bali?
B: It was awesome; I went surfing every day!
楽しい、面白いことを表すのに使ったり。
It can also be used to describe people. 👩🦰
A: Ms. White is such an awesome teacher. She always lets us use our phones in class.
人を説明するときにも使えたり。
It can be used instead of “Thank you.” 🙏
A: Do you have a pen?
B: Yeah, here you are.
A: Awesome.
Thank youという返答をするような場合に使ったり。

今日は、Congratsについてお話しします！
Instagramでも言ったように、
このcongratsは、ある有名な言葉の略になります。
“Congrats!”
It’s short for “Congratulations!”
Congratulations is a very long word that’s hard to say and write,
so Americans normally say congrats to friends and family. 🎊🥳
これはCongratulations!の略です。（おめでとうございます。の意味）
この言葉はとても長いので、
家族や友達とカジュアルに話すときは
Congrats！といいます。
今から２つの注意点についてお話しします。
Two things to be careful of when using congratulations/congrats:
① Congratulations is not used for holidays/birthdays.
② Put an “s” at the end; “Congratulation” is not correct English.
①この言葉は、祝日や誕生日のときの”おめでとう”には使いません。
②必ず終わりに”ｓ”をつけてください！Congratulationsです！
なので、”コングラチュレーション”と言っているのは、英語では間違いです。
Just like in Japanese, English speakers like
to shorten words and phrases as much as possible.
Just like how “ありがとうございます” can become “あざす” in Japanese,
“Thank you!” can become “Thanks!” in English (or even “thx!” on the Internet). 🙏
英語を話す人達も日本人と同様に、言葉をできるだけ短くして話すのが好きです。
ありがとうございます。が、あざす。になるように、
英語ならThank you.が、Thanks.になります。
There are too many of these shortened phrases to count in English,
but one more useful one is “‘Sup?”
It’s short for the greeting “What’s up?” which we introduced in the last post.
このような、略語は英語でも本当にたくさんあります。
例えば、Sup？はWhat’s up？の短いバージョン！
略しすぎなぐらいですよねｗ

Last time, we talked about casual American greetings.
前回、アメリカのカジュアルなあいさつについてお話ししましたね。
One of the most popular is “What’s up?”
その中でも人気のひとつが“What’s up?”です。
The most common answer is “Nothing much.” (or “Not much.”)
で、その答え方の一例が“Nothing much.” か“Not much.”になります。
What’s up is a little different from “How’s it going?”;
it’s not asking your feelings.
What’s upというのは、How’s it goingとは少し違い、
相手の調子を聞いているのではありません。
Americans use it to show that they’re not too busy to talk.
アメリカ人はこの質問を使って、相手が話せるかどうか、busyではないかを確認したりするときに
使ったりします。
If you are busy, however, you can answer with what you are doing.
もし、busyであれば、自分が今何の最中なのかを答えましょう。
For example, “I’m studying for a test.”
例えば、今テスト勉強してる。とか
Because it’s not asking your feelings, it sounds strange to answer, “Good!”
相手の感情などを聞いているわけではないので、Goodと返事するのは少し変ですね。
When in doubt, reply “Nothing much!”
迷ったら、Nothing muchと返せばいいと思います！
What’s upに、What’s upと返して、hello代わりに使う人もいます。
Nothing much、是非使いこなしてみてください☺
今日のフレーズはこれ！How’s it goingです。
↓こんな風に言ったりします。
“Hey Tomo, how’s it going?”
とか
“How’s what going…?”
これらは、あいさつなのですが、
留学当初どう答えていいのかわからず、
アタフタしたのを覚えています。
だって、あいさつと言えば、
How are you? I’m fine thank you. And you?
しか習ってなかったも～ん。。。
みなさんもそうでしたよね？

So what they are really asking is “How is your life going?”
The most common answer is “Good, you?”
